So, you saw the card?

Impressive!  If you saw the card mailed to your student, then you also saw the "xanga blog"!  That means you are also internet savy enough to know how to get here!  Congrats!

As for small groups, please keep encouraging your students to grow in the Lord through small groups.  We truly believe that real growth doesn't occur in a vaccuum.  It's so necessary to be in a small group.  You may disagree, but I think it's more important than sports, more important than recreation, more important than school.

"What?  You can't be serious!"
Yes, I am.

I'm not saying those things aren't important - they are vitally important.
But if you believe the scriptures, you will believe that learning to love one another is more important than personal bests, personal accomplishments and personal achievements.
Of course, I believe in balance.  To fortify one wall by stealing the bricks off another is not good.
But you may see my point.

By the way - are you in a small group?  Children follow what parents do ...

I'd love to see some of your thoughts!

What's Up With Camp Costs?

Here's what was in the letter.  All true.
Because of the nature of deposits and the busyness of summer, we’re going to need to ask you to pony-up costs for camp early and incrementally. Please help us to help you get your students to camp!
March 17    $ 50 deposit Due for ALL camps
April 22        $ 100 total due* for ALL Camps
May 20        $ 150 total due for Mid-High
$ 175 total due for High School
June 11        $ 250 total due for High School

We gave an example: "Sally Mid-High" needs to lay down a $50 in March, then another $50 by April and have her camp fully funded by May 20.

The inside scoop?  Janice, our Administrative Assistant is moving into the Children's building at the end of May / beginning of June - and she has to oversee administrative needs for (1) Children's Camp, (2) VBS and (3) Fine Arts Camp ... all in June.  She needs our help.
Parents - we're forced to do this by the camps, as well.  We can't afford to put up $1,000's of dollars on kids who may or may not come.

BTW - we're sorry, but once deposits are made you can sell your claim or give it away, but we can't refund on camps.

Welcome!

Hey, you actually read the letter and then went and found this!

Congratulations!  You really ought to make Sean buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks or something.

I don't need to tell you this, but I'll just say the obvious:
What you do today with your teen is important. Whether it's minutes or hours; deep or shallow; fun or serious, feels right or doesn't.  It matters, period.

No one on their deathbed said they were glad they spent more time at work.

The problem?  For most of Americans, our kids are out of the house before we capture the essense of that statement.

But I have a feeling you're not like that!

Keep checking this blog for the latest in information and discussion strings.
